The design of this illustration is based on the history of Kerava as a central place for circus, fairground and amusement business, which started in 1888. The circus market has been held annually in Kerava, more than 40 times already. For those who have visited the circus market, the tall stilted figures are very familiar. Strongmen have always been seen in Kerava and even the one-wheeled virtuoso is backed by a true circus talent. The snake dancer everyone will recognise is now Finland’s last snake dancer, Lili Sariola. Sariola’s circus circus continues to bring joy to the whole of Finland through its tours.
